*Investors are buying up a 40-acre plot belonging to an Alabama woman, which could be worth $20 million.

Once the sale is complete, Corine Woodson, 84, will be forced to sell the house she’s lived in for over 60 years. The residence is on the outskirts of Auburn, and several of her family members share the land on which the property sits, according to the New York Post.

“I would like to ask them why. You know, why, but I don’t. I can’t figure it out. Thinking about it, wondering about it. It’s not easy. I can tell you that,” Woodson told WTVM.

Dozens of her family members jointly own Woodson’s 40-acre plot. The value of the land is unknown, but it may be close to $20 million, the Post reports.

Over the years, the Cleveland Brothers Inc. purchased several family members’ stakes in the land and now owns 49%. A court-ordered appraisal is being completed on the contested property, which may enable the company to purchase the entire plot.

Since Woodson’s husband of over 50 years passed away last year, the ownership situation has become more complex.

Woodson, believing she was the rightful owner of the entire plot, never came forward to claim the land. She filed a motion asking for an opportunity to purchase it, but the court denied her request, the Post reports.

Once the sale is complete, Cleveland Brothers Inc. will allow her to remain in the home for a year.

“It was determined already that the land cannot be equally divided,” Woodson’s daughter Melissa said, the Post reports. “That is how he has the opportunity to buy all of it, and since they’re saying that my dad didn’t say that he wanted to buy all of it, they’re not allowing my mom the opportunity to do so.”
