‘The Last Dance’: Guard Who ‘Shrugged’ Michael Jordan After Winning a Bet Died in January

*The security guard who gave Michael Jordan his own infamous shrug after winning a bet in last night’s Part 6 of “The Last Dance” died back in January at the age of 69.

John Michael Wozniak has gone viral with perhaps the most memorable moment in the episode. The United Center security guard took a bet from Jordan during a game to see who could pitch a quarter closer to the wall. The guard bet $20 that he could get closer than MJ in four shots. He defeated Jordan on the first try, then gave him the shrug.

Wozniak’s obituary highlighted some of his life accomplishments:

“John Michael Wozniak, retired CPD and US Army Veteran, age 69, passed away while surrounded by family on January 18, 2020. Loving father of Nicholi (Anne), Rocky (fiancée Ashley), and Michael; Cherished papa of Roman, Lucas, and Natalie; Lifelong companion of Marilyn Wozniak; Dear brother of Marilyn (Larry), Gloria, and Dennis.”
