Mo’Nique

*Mo’Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks, chopped it up with rapper David Banner on his podcast, where the actress admitted that she is paying the price for putting fame before motherhood early in her career.

“There was a time that when he was a little boy, I wasn’t interested in being a mother,” Mo said of oldest son, Shalon Jackson. “I was interested in being a star, and I was interested in being famous,” she said. “And I wasn’t interested in being a wife. I was interested in taking pictures and red carpets, and signing autographs, and traveling the world. So, I really didn’t put the focus in.”

She went on to say that she has since apologized to Shalon 30, whom she shares with ex-husband Mark Jackson, along with son Mark Jr. Mo gave birth to a set of twins in 2005 that she shares with Sidney.

Meanwhile, Mo’Nique recently opened up about her feud with Lee Daniels, Oprah and Tyler Perry, telling ajc.com that she is open to reconciliation — but only if they issue her a public apology for their alleged roles in having her blacklisted in Hollywood.

“Do you know how powerful it is to say I’m sorry… If those three people ever get courageous enough to say we owe this woman and her husband an apology. Of course, I still love these people.. I don’t hate these people. They’re still brothers and sisters. It would have to be a public apology, not just private.

When asked why does it have to be public?, Mo’Nique explained: “Because it’s not the same if you tell me I’ve done nothing wrong privately but won’t say it publicly. I have an audiotape of Tyler Perry saying, ‘You’ve done nothing wrong.’ But he hasn’t said it publicly. Oprah privately told me I did nothing wrong. They have to do this publicly so the public can see just how the powerful operate.”
