Kanye Teams with Chick-fil-A Team and Los Angeles Dream Center to Provide 300K Meals During COVID-19 Pandemic

KANYE WEST

*Kanye West  has teamed up with Chick-Fil-A to provide 300,000 meals to vulnerable people in the L.A. community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rapper’s association with the fast-food eatery was documented on his 2019 track “Closed on Sunday.”

Chick-fil-A has reportedly donated sandwiches every day since last month to the Christian nonprofit Los Angeles Dream Center, and Anthem Blue Cross has donated hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizer, Complex reports. Local businesses have also donated food to support the effort.

Dream Center founder Matthew Barnett said in a statement: ”Every morning I wake up and stand in the parking lot with our dedicated staff, I am blown away that day after day, week after week, there is enough food to provide to folks that need it.”

”The Los Angeles Dream Centre has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials. I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community,” Barnett added.

”I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighbourhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”

After the Los Angeles Unified School District shut down mid-March due to the COVID-19 crisis, the Dream Center stepped in to feed those in need. The non-profit is now serving up meals and essential items seven days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. PT.

Kanye’s involvement has allowed for meal delivery to the elderly who are quarantined in nursing homes.

In related news… West previously admitted that he has never voted before, but that’s going to change when he casts his first ballot in the 2020 presidential election for Donald Trump.

In a new GQ cover story, Ye said he won’t allow his past fear of criticism keep him from voting for the red team (Republicans).

“I will not be told who I’m gonna vote on because of my color,” West told the magazine. “I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on.”

He added, “Both my parents were freedom fighters, and they used to drink from fountains they were told they couldn’t drink from, and they used to sit in restaurants where they were told they couldn’t eat from. They didn’t fight for me to be told by white people which white person I can vote on.”

The rapper went on to address those who said his career would end after coming out as a Trump supporter.

“I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here! ‘Jesus Is King’ was No. 1,” he said.
