It will probably came as absolutely NO surprise that Democratic Senator Kamala Harris has announced that she intends to run for President in 2020. The former California Attorney General is looking to become America’s second black President following in the footsteps of Barack Obama.
Earlier today on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Harris, 54, announced her decision to run to a national audience.
“I am running for president of the United States and I’m very excited about it,” she said. “I love my country and this is a moment in time where I feel a sense of responsibility to fight for who we are.”
If you’re wondering about her campaign slogan, it’s: “For the People. Specifically, she plans to campaign on a platform of free handouts, including a monthly tax credit of $500 for families earning less than $100,000 a year.
The daughter of an Indian mother and Jamaican father, Harris is a graduate of Howard university, Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California. She is also a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Senator Kamala Harris is married to Douglas Emhoff. They have no children.
