*Wednesdays are for “One Chicago!”

This week, NBC’s “Chicago P.D.” tackles the shocking murder of a young boy and the usage of new facial-recognition software to help identify suspects.

During a press conference, the “False Positive” executive producers Eriq La Salle and Rick Eid shared why episode six is a must see. And “Chicago Fires'” Annie Ilonzeh talked crossover connections.

Q: What episode this season stands out to you?

RE: We’ve got a bunch of really interesting stories. One that sticks in my mind is an episode where we explore the use of a new facial recognition software program, that turns out to be inaccurate within the African America community, and it’s based on a real thing. The episodes I tend to remember the most are the ones that have real issues underneath them. It’s not just about catching a bad guy or crime, it’s about society and life. That episode has that component. I think it’s episode six.

Q: Do you get as excited for the “One Chicago” crossovers as the viewers do?

AI: Yeah, I do! I get excited to work with all [the different casts] because it’s legit like a family and it’s fun. Me and Jesse (Lee Soffer) and Patrick (John Flueger) from “P.D.,” worked together years ago. It’s fun to reunite and be with everybody and all the different directors. Eriq La Salle did the crossover for “P.D.” and he’s just an O.G. I just want to hover around him and collect whatever gem he’s dropping.

Q: What’s been a gratifying moment producing “Chicago P.D.?”

EL: When you have a vision of a really cool story and we have this universe, with all these shows – and each show being so different, “P.D.” is very different than “Fire” and “Med.” The gratifying thing for us is everyone telling their truth. This is our storytelling in this universe, this is their storytelling in their universe, and when you put them all together, you still have these elements. It’s really cool to co-exist in this universe but also feel your own individuality within it.
