Ziggy Marley Talks Continuing His Father’s Legacy

Tamera Mowry-Housley: When you first started creating music were you looking to continue your father’s legacy, or did you want to find your own voice?

Ziggy Marley: Well when we started making music, my father was the one who helped us to make music. So he was here with us, he’s the one who wrote our first song, it was in 1979. A song called, “Children Playing in The Street,” back in Kingston, Jamaica — So he was with us, he supported what we were doing, but his example, that he set in terms of using music as a vehicle to spread a message to the world, is an example that we continue to um… follow.

Loni Love: Yes!

Tamera: Nice.
