Wendell Pierce Arrest Story Goes from Crazy to Bizarre

*The Wendell Pierce arrest story is still making news. As we reported, the actor was arrested by police after a  confrontation with a woman at an Atlanta hotel this past weekend.

Initial reports stated that Pierce – best known for his role on HBO’s “The Wire” – was supposedly drinking in the hotel bar with a male and female couple, when things went south because convo turned to politics and the presidential election. Pierce, a hardcore Hillary Clinton supporter, wasn’t trying to hear what the woman, a Bernie Sanders acolyte, had to say and allegedly pushed the woman’s boyfriend and grabbed her by the hair and started hitting her in the head.

OK, that was weird enough … if true. But now we’re hearing that the fight actually occurred on the 23rd floor of the Loews Hotel when Pierce followed the couple to their room. It was then that the victim, identified as Maggie Elena Baca, said that the thespian – who was in town making a film – allegedly attempted to enter the couple’s room. According to Rolling Out, an unnamed eyewitness source said:

“I went to the door, and Maggie, and her boyfriend, and her cousin had just come in. Her cousin is leaning her back against the door and feet against the wall trying to keep the door closed, and the boyfriend is trying to get Mr. Pierce’s hands off his girlfriend. … He was trying to force his way into the room, and had a handful of Maggie’s hair, and yanking on the hair, and swinging his arm around.”

Meanwhile, a woman later identified as Pierce’s girlfriend was screaming, “Wendell stop it, Wendell stop it” stated the witness. It was then that Pierce screamed “They’re trying to pull me in.” The people in the hotel room tried to open the door a little when Pierce allegedly continued the attack. The witness said, “He then charged the door, again. He then kept swinging, and hit [Maggie] a couple times, fairly hard, on the side of her head and on top of her head. He never got fully in the room. But it was then that Maggie’s boyfriend shouted, ‘I’m gonna get a knife.’ ”

It was then that Pierce stopped his attack and the people inside the hotel room called security, who then called police.

OK, that’s a whole lot to digest and quite frankly we still don’t know the truth. Here’s what Pierce had to say today (05-17-17) via Twitter:

“I regret that what started as a civil political discussion escalated to the level that it did,” he tweeted. “Although what has been reported thus far differs in important respects from what actually occurred, I have confidence that the judicial process will work as it should.”
