Trump Calls for Probe Into Harris Campaign’s Celebrity Backing
*Proving once again that he’s the undisputed orange a-hole-in-chief, Donald Trump is demanding a “major investigation” into celebrities who supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, accusing the former vice president’s campaign of making illegal payments disguised as entertainment fees. The accusation, made in a fiery Truth Social post early Monday, targets high-profile stars like Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and U2’s Bono.
“HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?” Trump wrote. “ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO???”
Trump Claims Celebrity Endorsements Were Masked Payments
Trump, who defeated Harris in the 2024 presidential election, alleged that the Harris campaign paid celebrities for endorsements under the guise of hiring them for entertainment. “Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS,” he wrote, adding, “For these unpatriotic ‘entertainers,’ this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system.”
He concluded his post with a promise to push for an official investigation, though he did not clarify which agency should carry it out. The White House has not yet responded to Trump’s demand or his claims, The Hill is reporting.

Oprah and Beyoncé Respond to Payment Allegations
Oprah Winfrey directly addressed the controversy in a previous Instagram post, writing, “I was not paid a dime. My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign.” She added that while her production company received funds, those were to cover the costs of staging events, not for personal gain. “The people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story,” she said.
As for Beyoncé, Trump cited an unverified $11 million figure, claiming she was paid just to endorse Harris at a Houston rally without performing. “According to news reports, Beyoncé was paid $11,000,000 to walk onto a stage… THIS IS AN ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION!” he said in a follow-up post. However, there is no credible evidence to support that number.
What the Records Really Show
Federal Election Commission filings indicate the Harris campaign paid Beyoncé’s production company, Parkwood Production Media LLC, $165,000 after the Texas event. According to campaign finance law, such reimbursements for event production — including lighting, sound, and staging — are permitted expenses, not considered campaign contributions.
Critics argue that Trump’s claims lack legal grounding and may serve to discredit Harris’s campaign post-election. Harris’s team has previously denied all suggestions of improper payments to celebrities for political endorsements.
Trump Escalates Attack on Springsteen
Trump also renewed his long-standing feud with Bruce Springsteen, calling the music icon a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” and claiming he has “never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics.” Springsteen recently criticized Trump during a performance abroad, further intensifying their public tension.
Trump added that Springsteen, Oprah, Beyoncé, Bono, and possibly others “have a lot of explaining to do,” as he continues pushing the narrative that their support for Harris was bought rather than freely given.
Campaign Laws and the Fine Line Between Endorsement and Performance
Under federal law, campaigns can pay for event production services, but direct payments for endorsements are prohibited and would be classified as in-kind contributions. However, if a celebrity performs or appears as part of a paid event and receives market-rate compensation for services, it is generally considered legal.
As of now, there is no public evidence that any of the artists cited by Trump were improperly compensated. The $165,000 payment to Beyoncé’s company is consistent with industry-standard event costs, not an endorsement fee.
Political and Celebrity Worlds Collide Again
Trump’s statements are the latest in a long history of friction between him and the entertainment industry, which overwhelmingly supported Democratic candidates in 2024. Whether this call for a formal investigation gains traction remains to be seen, but it has certainly reignited debate about money, influence, and celebrity in politics.
