*Taylor Russell has stepped away from her role in Amazon MGM Studios’ remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair,” where she was set to star alongside Michael B. Jordan.
According to Variety, the film, currently in production in London under Jordan’s direction, will recast her part as the studio aims for a March 5, 2027 release. Sources cite creative differences as the reason for Russell’s exit.
The project boasts a cast including Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. Drew Pearce penned the screenplay, though plot details remain undisclosed. The film reimagines the 1968 classic starring Steve McQueen.
Meanwhile, Russell, celebrated for her roles in “Waves” and “Bones and All,” has a busy slate ahead. She’s set to appear in the Korean thriller “Hope” with Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, a Frank Ocean-directed film with David Jonnson, and she’s in discussions for a “Single White Female” remake with Jenna Ortega.
According to Netflix Junket, the project is in early development. The original film follows Allison, who takes in a new roommate, Hedra, after a breakup, only to face escalating danger as Hedra grows obsessively fixated, mimicking her style and behavior. The new version is expected to preserve this intense narrative while infusing modern elements.

Sony and Elizabeth Gabler’s 3000 Pictures are behind the “Single White Female” remake, though no director or detailed production timeline has been confirmed. The 1992 film, a box office hit with $84.1 million in earnings, set a high bar, and the casting of Ortega and Russell promises a fresh perspective. Fan excitement is building, despite limited information on the script or filming schedule.
