*Publishers Clearing House (PCH) has appointed Owen O’Donoghue as its new Chief Executive Officer, following its acquisition by mobile and social gaming leader ARB Interactive.
According to the news release, O’Donoghue, an accomplished gaming executive with over 15 years of experience in technology and gaming, will spearhead a major brand revitalization. Central to this effort is the launch of the Prize Protection Program, designed to ensure that all future sweepstakes payouts are fully secure.
O’Donoghue’s career includes serving as Director of Gaming at Facebook (now Meta) and co-founding blockchain-based gaming company InfiniGods. He also played a key role in scaling growth at Microsoft. According to ARB Interactive, Owen brings “world-class leadership to the helm, along with a rare blend of startup grit and big tech expertise.”

The newly introduced Prize Protection Program guarantees that all future PCH prizes will be honored, regardless of ARB Interactive’s financial status. Funded with investment-grade assets held in FDIC-insured escrow accounts and managed through a bank-run investment vehicle, the initiative is intended to safeguard large annuity prize payments and reinforce PCH’s commitment to trust and accountability.
Patrick Fechtmeyer, CEO of ARB Interactive, said, “Owen O’Donoghue’s expertise in gaming and digital engagement makes him the perfect leader to guide PCH into its next chapter. His proven ability to drive innovation and build consumer trust aligns seamlessly with our mission to reimagine PCH as a leader in mobile-first, advertising-supported entertainment while honoring its iconic sweepstakes tradition.”
“I am thrilled to join Publishers Clearing House at this pivotal moment,” said O’Donoghue. “With the Prize Protection Program, we are combining PCH’s iconic sweepstakes heritage with modern, secure digital experiences, ensuring every winner is protected while introducing mobile-first gaming that excites and engages users nationwide. We believe programs like this represent an industry best practice, and such safeguards should be standard to protect all sweepstakes participants.”
The CEO appointment comes after ARB Interactive acquired PCH’s assets in a $7.1 million, court-approved transaction sanctioned by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The company plans to revitalize PCH with a mobile-first strategy, leveraging its 70-year legacy of life-changing sweepstakes and the iconic Prize Patrol. Under O’Donoghue, PCH will integrate free-to-play digital games with ARB’s Modo Casino platform to enhance user engagement.
O’Donoghue will also oversee the expansion of PCH’s digital presence, reaching its 38 million+ authenticated users through engaging, compliant, and transparent mobile gaming. The Prize Patrol will continue delivering oversized checks to winners, maintaining the classic sweepstakes experience while embracing modern, mobile-first digital entertainment.
The move comes amid reports that several former PCH winners experienced interruptions in their annual lifetime prize payments earlier this year. According to PEOPLE, at least 10 recipients missed their most recent checks ahead of PCH’s Chapter 11 filing in April. ARB Interactive has stated it is not responsible for payouts issued before its acquisition but confirmed it will honor prizes awarded after July 15, 2025, including a SuperPrize on May 31. Tuesday’s $1 million prize giveaway will mark the first payout under the Prize Protection Program if the winner selects the annuity option.
