*Skip Bayless revealed that the NFL allegedly apologized to Lil Wayne after choosing Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Fans were upset that Wayne, a New Orleans native, was overlooked, especially given his strong ties to the city. Lamar’s performance received mixed reviews, with some calling it one of the worst in Super Bowl history.
Bayless, a close friend of Lil Wayne, previously criticized the NFL for snubbing the rapper and alleged that the league privately apologized to him in September after offering the halftime show slot to Lamar.
“The NFL immediately sent Wayne a letter of apology,” Bayless said on his YouTube show.
“From nobody in particular, just from the league on NFL letterhead,” he explained, per The UK Sun.
“A letter that thanked him for his years of supporting the league, not just the Packers, his favorite team, but supporting and promoting the NFL, in general, which he has,” Bayless continued.

“I mean, he makes weekly appearances on the NFL’s Sunday pregame show, ‘NFL GameDay Morning’ on the NFL Network,” he added.
“But he will not play Sunday’s halftime show, and he definitely won’t watch a second of Sunday’s halftime show,” Bayless said. “He will watch the game, just not the halftime show. Not one second.”
Furthermore, Bayles revealed that the Super Bowl Halftime Show snub devastated the hip-hop star.
“When the news first broke, it hit Wayne hard,” the sports analyst said. “He didn’t feel like doing much of anything for several long days and nights. He’s better now.”
According to The US Sun, insiders say NFL officials “regret” their mistake after choosing Kendrick over Lil Wayne.
“A mistake was made and we regret the choice that was made,” an NFL employee told The U.S. Sun.
“Lil Wayne should have been the first option, as he is from New Orleans and we know that there was a clear motivation for him and his side to do a unique show in his town.”

Wayne previously expressed disappointment at not being asked by the NFL to perform in his hometown.
“I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown and for just automatically mentally putting myself in that position,” he said on Instagram Live.
“So it hurt, it hurt a whole lot,” he admitted.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that Lamar’s halftime show made history, shattering viewership records and igniting conversation about its cultural impact.
Lamar’s show was the most-watched in Super Bowl history, drawing 133.5 million viewers, surpassing even legendary Halftime Shows by Michael Jackson and Prince, TMZ reports.
The performance also gave Lamar’s music a major boost. His streaming numbers skyrocketed, with music analytics platform Chart Data confirming that he now holds the record for most monthly listeners for a hip-hop artist on Spotify—surpassing his nemesis Drake.
