*Klay Thompson is pushing back at a crude remark that was made about his girlfriend, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, on a recent episode of the Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast.
The Dallas Mavericks guard became the subject of discussion when former NBA players Jason Williams and Patrick Beverley, along with co-host Rone, speculated about his shooting struggles this season. Thompson is averaging a career low, and the panel suggested his relationship might be part of the equation.
The couple confirmed their romance earlier in the offseason, and the Grammy winner has been spotted courtside at multiple Mavericks games. While debating Thompson’s performance, Williams used an explicit term to illustrate his point before launching into an old saying he claimed came from his upbringing.
“I’m from West Virginia, man. I’ve been taught a lot by some old folks, old white folks. They say p—’s powerful,” Williams said. “They say it’s so powerful … it only takes one … to drag a battleship across a desert, that’s how powerful it is.”

Williams continued by bringing Thompson directly into the analogy. “Klay Thompson — I ain’t saying that’s what it is, but that might be what it is. That ain’t taking nothing away from Megan Thee Stallion. She might be a great girl, great for him. But I don’t know if she’s great for the shot.”
A video clip of the conversation was posted to the show’s Instagram page, along with the question, “What’s going on with Klay Thompson?” Thompson responded in the comment section, calling out the hosts for their language.
“Referring to my GF as a ‘p—’ is so disgusting and disturbing,” he wrote. “Especially from someone who played in the NBA . How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way ? …Do better fellas. Very disappointing.”
His reaction reflects a pattern of shutting down invasive remarks about Megan, especially those tied to her traumatic history. Thompson previously made headlines when a fan approached him on a New York sidewalk asking, “Bro, how do you feel about Tory Lanez coming home?” He immediately cut the encounter short, replying, “Bro, get away from me,” before continuing down the street.
The exchange was fueled by unfounded online claims that Lanez had been released early from his 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan. Lanez, convicted in 2023 on multiple felony counts including assault with a firearm, is eligible for parole in 2029.
