*Kim Kardashian is once again under fire after her 12-year-old daughter, North West, showed off what many fans called “dangerous” body piercings. She took to social media to display the new dermal piercings on her fingers.
As The Sun reports, dermal piercings involve a surgical process, where a small anchor with a flat base is inserted beneath the skin, allowing jewelry to sit on the surface. The images ignited a wave of reactions from fans and critics alike.
“This is what happens when you need to be your child’s best friend and not a rational adult,” one commenter wrote on Reddit. Another added, “This is absolutely absurd. She is a child.” A third person wrote, “Why are they letting 12 year olds look 25? Kim and Kanye needs to be a better parents and North needs to be reminded she’s a little girl, not a grown adult.”

Despite the backlash, Kardashian shared North’s reaction to the criticism surrounding her piercings and fake tattoos. Speaking in a Complex “GOAT Talk” video alongside her “All’s Fair” co-star Niecy Nash-Betts, the mother of four said the preteen wasn’t fazed by the online comments.
“Her and her girlfriends, they love doing costumes, they love doing looks,” Kardashian said. “It’s Halloween season, so they put on fake tattoos on their face, fake piercings. They all had their colored hair. They looked like an opium Powerpuff Girls. [That’s] what they were going for.”
The reality star also addressed the public scrutiny of North’s style during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on October 15. She admitted that navigating her daughter’s viral fashion moments can be difficult. “It’s really hard and really interesting,” she said of North’s, noting a recent incident when her daughter went viral for wearing a corset and miniskirt.
“All the kids are wearing the same things,” Kardashian explained. “But then my daughter tries to wear it and then I’m like, ‘OK, we’re never wearing that again.’ Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world.”
Reflecting on parenting in the public eye, Kardashian added, “As a mom, you’re kind of learning at the same time. But what I do know is my baby’s such a good girl and such a sweet girl.”
She then asked for“A little bit of grace,” Kardashian said, “since she’s doing the best she can” raising her four children largely on her own.
