*Following a violent attack in Minnesota targeting Democratic lawmakers, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) expressed deep concerns about her safety as an elected official.
Appearing on ABC’s “The View,” Crockett discussed the assassination of a Minnesota Democratic representative, her husband, and their dog, as well as the severe injuries sustained by another lawmaker and his wife. The suspect reportedly had a hit list, intensifying fears among Congress members.
“No, not at all,” Crockett responded when asked if she felt safe, highlighting the lack of security for most House members, The Daily Wire reports. “The only people in the House that have protection, you get protection based upon your leadership post. That’s it,” she said, noting that non-leadership members must personally fund their security.
Crockett criticized federal spending priorities, specifically targeting funds allocated for what she called Trump’s “little birthday parade” for the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. “I’m just saying, can we reprioritize some of those dollars?” she urged, suggesting redirected funds could bolster congressional safety.
Crockett attributed the threatening climate to MAGA supporters, referencing incidents like threats against Republicans during the Speaker election. “So I did text a Republican that I consider to be a friend … and I said, ‘listen, your people need to fix this,’” she shared, emphasizing that even some Republicans fear MAGA-driven hostility.
Far-left Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX) decries how much is spent on Trump’s security detail, and Sara Haines suggests Trump’s criticisms put her in danger:

Crockett also expressed frustration over bizarre incidents, like pizzas being sent to members’ homes, which she learned about amid the recent violence. “
“I get that nobody really likes the Congress, but … we’re a co-equal branch of government,” she added.
During the White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed Crockett’s remarks from a podcast with Katie Couric, where she suggested Trump’s supporters reflected a “mental health crisis.” Leavitt laughed, saying, “I hope [Crockett] continues to be a rising star, at least for Republicans.”
