*The action-packed final season of “Power Book IV: Force” officially debuted Friday, November 7, and new episodes continue rolling out weekly on Fridays across the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming platforms, and on-demand. As the crime drama enters its last chapter, Shane Harper and Miriam A. Hyman say the pressure on their characters has never been more intense.
For Hyman’s Stacy Marks, that intensity defines her entire journey. “I think pressure is a great word because she feels like she is in the cooker,” Hyman explains. She says the U.S. attorney is fighting to protect the authority she’s earned while juggling her personal life and the demands of her marriage. “Pressure is a great word because she’s under a lot of it and trying to navigate and maintain. And we’ll see how successful she comes out.”
Harper describes Vic Flynn’s situation as equally overwhelming. “The pressure is on,” he says. His character is trying to carve out independence in a world where everyone wants something from him. “That’s gonna be the biggest challenge is to see if he can actually find the power for himself to play these people against each other… between Tommy and Stacey, this guy’s cooked.”
With core themes like power, loyalty, and survival driving the series, Harper believes Vic’s motivations are clear. “I mean, certainly survival on the forefront, because, you know, you got Tommy breathing down your neck, and Stacey… she’ll bite your head off too,” he says. Redemption, however, is where he hopes Vic can land. “Because the snitch position is not a great place to be, but if he can redeem himself, I think that would be huge.”
Hyman sees survival and loyalty colliding for Stacy as the season unfolds. “Survival is tough, because everybody’s trying to survive,” she says, noting the tension between Stacy’s commitment to her marriage and her devotion to her career. With each season elevating Stacy’s position, Hyman says her character is always pushing for more, even when it requires uncomfortable decisions. “Sometimes that’s going to require some risks. It’s gonna require you to do some things that maybe you didn’t think that you would necessarily do,” Hyman adds.
Ultimately, Stacy’s arc is rooted in self-interrogation and ambition. “She’s constantly trying to climb and put herself in a better position,” Hyman explains. “There’s a lot of questions that are raised for Stacey inwardly and outwardly, and she’s gonna do her best to answer every single one of those questions.”
