*On September 27, 2025, Little Rock’s Chenal Country Club transformed into a global runway where East met West in a stunning showcase of fashion, culture, and philanthropy. The iconic “East Meets West” Fashion Showcase—spearheaded by world-renowned designer, author, and philanthropist, Ashton Hall, founder of the Ashton Hall Collection —was more than an exhibition of clothes. It was a testimony to art’s power to unite communities, raise awareness, and spotlight Black excellence in spaces where it has long been overlooked.
Every year, Hall hosts a major fashion show event and partners with local foundations to raise awareness and give back to the community. Last May, Hall collaborated with ALS in Wonderland Foundation for its 10th annual soiree, A World of Pure Imagination. With over 40 years of influence in the fashion industry, this is Ashton Hall.
For one unforgettable night, Little Rock rivaled Milan, New York, Paris, and Los Angeles. The city made clear that global couture need not be confined to fashion capitals overseas—it can thrive in the heart of Arkansas. This was not simply an event; it was a cultural statement that announced Little Rock’s place on the global fashion map in the middle of the 3rd decade of the 21st century.

Little Rock’s Global Spotlight
While places like Milan and Paris dominate the couture conversation, Little Rock has quietly carved out its own reputation. Much of this stems from the international recognition of Korto Momolu, a Liberian-born, Arkansas-based designer and Project Runway finalist whose creativity positioned her as a global ambassador. Now, Ashton Hall has expanded that legacy, elevating Arkansas once again into the international conversation.
Fashion in Little Rock is no novelty—it is a movement. By staging his latest showcase here, Hall demonstrated that fashion capitals are not defined by geography but by vision, artistry, and cultural courage. As Ashton Hall made his appearance just before the event got underway, he escorted his wife, Mrs. Hall, and his father, Mr. Hall, into the main stage area.
A Room of Luminaries
Though celebrity host Dr. Malik Yoba could not attend due to travel complications, the event lost none of its brilliance. The room was filled with Arkansas’s movers and shakers: Dr. Chris Jones, former gubernatorial candidate for Arkansas, and his wife, Dr. Jerrilyn Jones; journalist Ashlei King and her husband, Mr. King; philanthropist and entrepreneur Javonne Jordan; event sponsor, Dr. Brian McGee and Mrs. Lara Blum McGee; banker and city director Virgil Miller; celebrated soul chef Cleo Gray; and even a promising young photojournalist, Mark Martindale of Parkview High School, making his professional debut. Business moguls, Garbo Hearne and Dr. Archie Hearne, were also present at the East Meets West fashion gala.

The charitable heartbeat of the evening was Donna Terrell’s Yoga Warriors, a nonprofit committed to fighting colon cancer. Terrell, who lost her daughter to the disease, has transformed personal grief into collective healing. Guests were reminded that fashion, when rooted in service, can inspire resilience and extend far beyond the runway.
Ashton Hall’s Vision
For more than four decades, Ashton Hall has set the standard for refined artistry. His work has graced the runways of New York and Paris, yet his vision has always reached beyond clothing. Drawing inspiration from a visit to Shanghai, China, Hall’s new collection embodied the textures, landscapes, and cultural rhythms of the ‘threads of heritage’. “Fashion is a language that creates itself in clothes,” Hall remarked, describing his intent to merge Chinese influences with Americana styling. The results were breathtaking: fitted jackets, crinkled skirts, and flowing dresses that seamlessly transitioned from boardroom to evening gala. His garments balanced power and grace, femininity and strength. The men’s line was equally remarkable, with tailored jackets and modern silhouettes redefining versatility. Hall’s brilliance lies not only in fabric selection—silk, cashmere, leather—but in cross-cultural storytelling woven into every piece.

Community Spotlight
Equally compelling was the role of community. Chef Cleo Gray, executive sous chef at Chenal Country Club and proud alumnus of Arkansas Baptist College, prepared a culinary experience as artful as the fashion itself. Known for his signature sauces and quiet leadership, Gray embodies the values of service and excellence that mirror Hall’s own influence through fashion.
Then there was Mark Martindale, a young photojournalist capturing his first major assignment. His presence reminded attendees of the importance of creating pathways for the next generation. As one guest noted, “He’s the future of journalism.” Martindale’s debut underscored how access creates legacy.
Fashion as Ministry
Hall’s ministry is his sanctuary. That is no throwaway phrase. Ministry implies service, leadership, and a calling larger than oneself. Through his designs, mentorship, and charitable partnerships, Hall proves that fashion can clothe not only bodies but spirits. The unveiling of his new fragrance, “AH,” and the buzz surrounding his book Unstitched reinforced that his artistry extends beyond garments. Hall is building a brand ecosystem—fashion, fragrance, literature, and philanthropy—that merges lifestyle with legacy.

A Night to Remember, A Future to Build
The East Meets West Fashion Showcase left an indelible mark not just in Little Rock, Arkansas, but America and the international community. Guests departed with more than admiration for fine clothing; they carried a sense of belonging to something transformative. Whether through the elegance of Hall’s designs, the resilience of Donna Terrell’s foundation in honor of her daughter Queah and others, or the promise embodied by young Mark Martindale, the night affirmed that Little Rock is not merely a spectator in global culture—it is an active participant. If Little Rock is the player, with Ashton Hall as the coach, and the fashion ecosystem is the game, because of coach Hall’s new player, Little Rock just scored!!!
Fashion, at its best, holds up a mirror to society. On this night, the reflection was one of beauty, unity, and progress. Ashton Hall’s ministry of style reminds us that when East meets West, the result is not collision but harmony. And in that harmony lies hope for the future of fashion, community, and cultural empowerment. Until the next curtain call!
