Adrian Peterson Arrested for DWI After Vikings Draft Party
*Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson is back in the headlines—but not for anything happening on the field. On April 25, 2025, Peterson was arrested in Minnesota for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated (DWI) after attending the Minnesota Vikings’ NFL Draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
According to Minnesota State Patrol, Peterson was clocked at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone around 3:20 a.m. on Highway 77. He was pulled over and arrested without incident. A preliminary breath test at the Hennepin County Jail revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.14%—nearly double the state’s legal limit of 0.08%.
Vikings Provided Rides, But Peterson Drove Anyway
The arrest raises eyebrows because the Vikings had arranged transportation for former players. Peterson reportedly left the stadium on a team-provided shuttle around 9 p.m., yet was behind the wheel hours later. He was booked at 5:16 a.m. and released on a $4,000 bond by 7:31 a.m.
His next court appearance was scheduled for May 9, 2025, in Hennepin County District Court. As of June 19, there’s been no update on the outcome. The case remains in the hands of the Richfield city attorney, and no plea deal or sentencing has been confirmed.
Adrian Peterson Throws Hands at Houston Poker Club
As if the DWI arrest wasn’t enough, Peterson found himself in another headline-grabbing moment on May 27, 2025. TMZ Sports obtained footage showing him brawling inside JokerStars Social Club in Houston during a poker game gone sideways.

Peterson reportedly got into it with a longtime friend over a disputed hand. What began as a heated exchange turned physical, with both men trading punches before being separated. Both suffered bloody but non-serious injuries. No charges were filed, and the club didn’t issue a ban.
Peterson Calls It a “Brother Situation” Fueled by Alcohol
Peterson downplayed the brawl afterward, calling it a “brother situation.” He said alcohol played a big role in the flare-up, and expressed regret over the incident.
Still, the fight adds fuel to concerns about his recent behavior, especially given his past legal history.
This isn’t his first run-in with the law. He previously faced a 2014 child abuse charge (settled with probation) and had a domestic violence charge dropped in 2022. Combined with his DWI and public altercation, it paints a messy 2025 for the former MVP.

Financial Problems Continue to Haunt Peterson
Peterson’s money woes also refuse to fade. A Houston judge ordered him in September 2024 to turn over assets to settle a $12 million debt stemming from a defaulted $5.2 million loan taken in 2016. Despite his denials, constables have been authorized to seize items from his Missouri City home.
The court case has grown messy, with accusations that Peterson tried to hide assets using his wife and shell companies. A planned auction of memorabilia was paused due to legal disputes. Peterson blames his former financial advisor for the mess, saying he’s not broke—just badly advised.
Still Not Retired, Still Hoping for an NFL Comeback
Peterson hasn’t played in the NFL since 2021 but hasn’t officially retired either. At age 40, he’s hinted he’d still lace up if the right team came calling. Meanwhile, he’s kept busy with poker, charity appearances, and dabbling in combat sports training—though it now seems fists are flying more at poker tables than boxing rings.
On social media, reactions are split. Some fans defend him, others roast him. Posts on X range from calling him a “legend unraveling” to suggesting he’s prepping for a celebrity boxing career. Whatever the case, Adrian Peterson is clearly no longer just running backs—he’s running headlines.
Why Adrian Peterson’s 2025 Meltdowns Matter
From DUI arrests to poker club brawls, Adrian Peterson’s 2025 is starting to resemble a reality show more than a retirement tour. The combination of legal trouble, financial drama, and physical altercations paints a concerning picture for a player once hailed as one of the greatest in NFL history.
Whether Peterson turns it around or spirals further remains to be seen, but for now, the only action he’s seeing is in courtrooms and card rooms—not stadiums.
