*Don’t you just love a crossover SUV? I sure do. This class of vehicle has a special place in my heart, as they seem to always be the absolute perfect size for compact parking spaces, but also owning the road.
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 was a refreshing drive with a lovely lux interior, great features, good on gas, and just the right looks.
Design & Features: Because of its size and class, the exterior design moves slightly away from the look of the bigger vehicles in the fleet. With its black paneling, lining the edges of the vehicle, I found the design to be a bit more sporty and casual than the previously driven CX-70 and CX-90. Looking out the side view mirrors, you might think “She’s got some hips!” The CX-50 is giving curves, honey, and I like it.
Despite its more youthful look and feel, the CX-50 delivers comfort and grown woman on the inside. My vehicle offered a full leather interior, showing off with contrasting colors and elegant threading between seams. One of my favorite features is actually the gear shift, which felt super sporty and elegant at the same time.
As far as space is concerned, back seat passengers may not be super comfy, because there isn’t a whole lot of leg room back there. But, the adventurous driver can enjoy plenty of cargo space. Also, the sunroof is such a lovely touch, especially for its size. It most certainly makes the car feel more spacious.

Technology: It’s got an easy Bluetooth connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Now, I’ve complained about the small display in the larger vehicles. But, the small size fits right in for this smaller vehicle, not taking up too much dash space and keeping the scenery unobstructed.
When it comes to safety features, Mazda has that on lock. Mazda’s i-Activesense safety technology made the drive smooth and easy. I appreciated most the gentleness of the late departure warning. In some vehicles, I find this alert to be jarring and intrusive. Instead, this technology sends a warning at a gentle pitch and within the driver’s field of vision, without disrupting the vibes too much.
Rear cross-traffic visuals are everything. Backing out of a crowded Costco parking lot with children and baskets running wild can be a treacherous dare. But all of the cameras and warnings make these anxiety raising events less stressful.
Also, though I’ve not tried it, drivers can access some fun features with the MYMazda App.

The Drive: I drove the Turbo trim. The drive was smooth and easy, with the right amount of get up and go, as I call it. The CX-50 offers Normal, Sport, and Off-Road modes. So you know this car is built for adventures.
Overall, the 2025 Mazda CX-50 is a fun drive, super comfy, and great for adventure and city driving. Mazda does it right with the safety features.
