*A coalition of African American leaders is calling for immediate action following a disturbing incident at a Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Los Angeles.
As we reported earlier, on February 9th, 2025, a security guard was captured on video slapping an unidentified African American woman in an unprovoked assault inside the restaurant.
The video has since gone viral, sparking outrage and demands for accountability.
The coalition, led by organizations such as Project Islamic Hope, Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches, and the National Action Network, has scheduled a press conference today, February 13, 2025, at the Taco Bell Cantina located at 801 W 7th St, Los Angeles, CA 90017.

They are demanding the arrest and firing of the security guard, as well as a meeting with Taco Bell CEO Sean Tresvant to address customer safety and improved security measures.
“The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman,” stated Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Ali’s words, originally spoken by Malcolm X, still resonate today, highlighting the systemic issues faced by Black women.
The coalition is also working to locate the victim, who may be homeless, to provide support and ensure her voice is heard. They are urging Taco Bell leadership to take swift action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future and to ensure that all customers are treated with dignity and respect.
As of now, Sean Tresvant, CEO of Taco Bell, has not issued any public statement condemning the assault. The coalition is determined to hold Taco Bell accountable and to push for the prosecution of the security guard responsible for the attack.
