*Snoop Dogg isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The hip-hop legend surprised fans on May 13 with the announcement of his 21st studio album and an accompanying film, both titled “Iz It a Crime?“. The project was revealed during his appearance on Access Daily with Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover in New York City.
The new album, arriving under his revived Death Row Records imprint, features collaborations with artists like Sexyy Red, Wiz Khalifa, and legendary producers Battlecat, Rick Rock, and Pharrell Williams. Snoop said the title was inspired by people questioning some of his past controversies, like his performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
This marks Snoop’s first solo release since last year’s collaborative effort with Dr. Dre, Missionary. Check out what he had to say about the project in the video above.
Outside the recording booth, Snoop continues to broaden his entertainment empire. NBC recently tapped him to host “Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve,” a star-studded countdown celebration airing live from Miami on Dec. 31 at 10:30 p.m. ET. The event, which will also stream on Peacock, promises musical performances and surprise appearances.

“Snoop Dogg’s energy, influence and ability to bring people together promises an unforgettable night,” said Jen Neal, executive at NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Snoop is also returning as a coach on “The Voice” for its 28th season, following a successful debut in season 26. His new deal with NBCUniversal doesn’t stop at singing competitions, the rapper is also developing projects across film, TV, sports, and streaming through his production company, Death Row Pictures.
“Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table,” Snoop said. “But Donna [Langley] and the NBCUniversal team have always understood. I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home.”
He’s also making moves in the film world with an upcoming biopic chronicling his journey from Long Beach to hip-hop royalty and media mogul. Directed by Allen Hughes, the project is being produced in collaboration with Universal. Meanwhile, Snoop’s gospel effort “Altar Call” recently hit streaming platforms, showing yet another side of his musical range.
His entrepreneurial spirit was recently recognized at the Webby Awards, where Ice-T honored him with the Webby Entrepreneur of the Year Award. “Of course, the internet changed the game, but one thing didn’t change: Snoop Dogg. He’s never gonna change, and Snoop is still on top,” Ice-T said.
The rapper also appeared on the cover of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, reflecting on his career and constant evolution. “People think I get caught up in commercials and movies and TV and fail to realize that my foundation is music,” he said. “There’s none of it without the music.”
