*Instagram is rolling out innovative features, drawing inspiration from platforms like TikTok and X, to enhance user engagement.
As PC Mag reports, users can now repost photos and videos, with a dedicated profile tab showcasing these shares. “Reposts will be recommended to your friends’ and followers’ feeds, and they’ll also be in a separate tab on your profile, so you can always go back to revisit your reposts,” Meta announced.
The repost button, depicted as two arrows forming a circle, appears next to the Comment button on posts or above Share on Reels. A new Instagram Map feature allows users to share their location with mutual followers, similar to Snap Maps. After opting in, you can select everyone you follow, Close Friends, or specific accounts to view your location history.
“If you open the Instagram app with the feature turned on, it will update those you’ve selected with your latest location,” Meta explained. Users can disable location sharing at any time for privacy control.
The Reels tab is also getting an upgrade with a more prominent Friends section. This feature lets users browse public content their friends have interacted with or recommendations from Blends they’ve started.

“Where you can see public content your friends have interacted with, or recommendations from Blends you’ve started,” Meta stated, highlighting the social focus of the update.
These changes, effective as of August 7, 2025, aim to make Instagram more interactive and connected. While the repost feature wasn’t fully active for all users at launch, it’s expected to integrate seamlessly into feeds, offering a fresh way to share and discover content while keeping friends updated on your activities and whereabouts.
