*Lionsgate released the official trailer for “Good Fortune,” a comedy written and directed by Aziz Ansari, set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025 and hit theaters nationwide on October 17.
The film stars Keanu Reeves as Gabriel, a well-intentioned but clumsy guardian angel, alongside Ansari as Arj, a struggling gig worker, and Seth Rogen as a wealthy venture capitalist. The story follows Gabriel’s humorous attempts to transform the lives of these two contrasting characters through divine intervention. The ensemble cast also features Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, Sherry Cola, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
In the trailer, Gabriel describes himself as a “budget guardian angel” who prevents minor mishaps, like texting while driving. Tasked with a larger mission, he aims to change the lives of Arj and Rogen’s character, guided by fellow angel Martha (Sandra Oh), who advises, “To save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.”
The trailer highlights the film’s mix of humor, heart, and themes of class and second chances. Produced by Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang, with executive producers Aniz Adam Ansari, Jonathan McCoy, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio, “Good Fortune” promises a fresh comedic perspective backed by a stellar cast and Lionsgate’s distribution.
