*In the wild world of politics, it often feels like you’re watching a reality show. Enter Rep. Al Green of Texas—a Democrat fed up with none other than President Donald Trump. While some Democrats seem to bow down to the orange man and his infamous red hat, Green is ready to throw down and take action. That’s right! He’s gearing up to bring articles of impeachment against “Orange Thanos with the tiny hands” within the next 30 days. Buckle up!
Al Green’s Passionate Rally Cry
Green made his bold announcement during the “Hands Off!” rally in Washington, D.C. This was an anti-Trump gathering full of energy, where attendees were clearly tired of the current administration. According to The Hill, Green passionately told the crowd, “We need a Senate that will convict him this time.” You could feel the fire in his words.
He painted Trump as a modern-day Goliath. “He is a Goliath. He has control of the generals in the military. He has control of the Justice Department. He has control of the Republican Party,” Green said. But don’t count him out yet! He rallied the crowd with mentions of David. Yes, that David from the biblical story. “For every Goliath, there is a David,” he proclaimed.
His fierce message? “This David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days. I’m coming for you.” Wow, who needs a superhero movie when you have Congress?
The Not-So-Original Impeachment Attempt
Let’s not forget that this isn’t Green’s first rodeo. He’s tried this impeachment business before during Trump’s first term. For a little context, Trump was impeached not just once, but twice during his presidency. His first impeachment back in 2019 was about alleged pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to dig up dirt on Joe Biden. The second came after the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.
Both times, the Senate was like, “Thanks, but no thanks,” and acquitted Trump.
Spoiler alert: Green’s current efforts are unlikely to fare any better. With both chambers of Congress controlled by Republicans, the impeachment articles may as well be destined for the circular file. But hey, even if it all falls apart—again—it’s another tick mark in the column of “Things that Did Not Work Out.”
The State of the Union Circus
During President Trump’s so-called State of the Union address (or as some call it—the joint congressional address that seems about as genuine as a three-dollar bill), Green seized the moment. He raised his cane in protest, declaring that the “Orange ogre in office” was not fit to hold any office, much less the presidency. “You can’t be entrusted with liberty and justice for all,” Green exclaimed. If he had a mic, we bet he would have dropped it!
Conditions in Chaos
Meanwhile, let’s check the state of the nation. President Trump is building a legacy that rivals Kanye West’s list of disgraces, and it’s not pretty. The federal government seems to be flatlining, while the stock market appears to be heading for a giant crash. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid hang on like a toddler clinging to their favorite blanket—barely.

White House assistant press secretary Liz Huston jumped into the fray with her own statements. She insisted, “Trump’s position is clear: he will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries.” Quite the pitch, right? Yet the Democrats? According to Huston, they’re just tossing benefits to “illegal aliens” and setting the stage for total program bankruptcy!
A Dose of Reality
Before the Trump administration starts spinning tales that would make a good fairytale jealous, let’s clarify some facts. Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for federally funded healthcare programs like Medicaid and certainly don’t get Social Security benefits. You can bet misinformation is one thing Trump’s team knows how to use—just look at their track record!
In summary, we’ve got Rep. Al Green looking to take on the giant that is President Trump while the rest of us watch the political circus unfold. Will his impeachment efforts matter? Probably not! But at least it gives us something to talk about while sipping our coffee. As they say, “Politics is entertainment for the smart.”
