What Do Racism and Roaches Have in Common? – The Journal of Steffanie Rivers | WATCH

*Last week six former law enforcement officers near Jackson, Mississippi got sentenced to prison for torturing two Black men, just because they could. This is why we ask what racism and roaches have in common.

They called themselves the ‘Goon Squad,’ so this kind of behavior wasn’t new to them. Most of them worked for the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.

One of them was the chief investigator. Another was a lieutenant. Two of them worked in the narcotics division. They held leadership positions, and their ages ranged from 28 to 54. If suspects in Rankin County expect(ed) to get fair treatment for their alleged crimes, it would have been up to members of the Goon Squad to show impartiality. I doubt that happened.

Racism is just like roaches: For the moment it might seem as if the problem has been exterminated, but before too long you spot a new generation of the same old problem. Click the video above to hear my take on it.
