*A Florida man (Michael Banks) is in the hot seat amid accusations he shot three people after allegedly expressing intentions to date his daughter!
Referencing a report from WKMG, iHeart reports that Banks faces several charges, including first-degree murder in the triple shooting. The site goes on to detail the situation, stating Tampa police officers responded to reports of a shooting last month on Jan. 17.
The incident, which occurred at a house on 23rd Street, featured two women running out of the house with gunshot wounds. One of the women, officers revealed, is Banks’ mother. The other woman is the 42-year-old’s daughter, according to a police report obtained by reporters.
After the women revealed Banks was still inside the home, a perimeter was set up around the home by police. Although Banks fired two rounds at officers who returned gunfire, no one was shot during the exchange, authorities said. Banks ultimately surrendered himself to authorities.
Officers investigating the incident revealed they found another woman dead inside the home. The woman, who was a friend of Banks’ mother, had a gunshot wound to her head. As of Jan. 30, officials have not revealed the identity of the woman.
iHeart noted the discovery of a letter by detectives. The note, allegedly written by Banks to his daughter, found the 42-year-old patriarch insisting she “enter into a relationship with him and not date anyone else,” according to the police report.
With the discovery of the letter, Banks’ mother and her friend talked about forcing him out of the house over this letter. Banks told officers he felt “betrayed and upset” from hearing the conversation. From there, the shooting began, with Banks taking his revolver and shooting at the pair before opening fire on his daughter while she was in the shower, Banks reportedly told authorities.
The suspected shooter was held without bond. Charges Banks faces include first-degree murder, attempted murder of an officer, firearm possession, and two counts of attempted first-degree murder with great bodily harm.
