*NLF star Travis Kelce is set to produce an upcoming documentary about late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat titled “King Pleasure.”

PEOPLE reports that Basquiat’s estate has given the Kansas City Chiefs player and his producing partners, Ray Maiello and Mike Field, access to his archives. “King Pleasure” will include “never-before-seen home movies, notebooks, photographs, animation, and interviews,” according to ArtNews.

Basquiat gained fame during the 1980s. Jordan Wynn, president of Boardwalk Studios, described him as “one of the most electric artists of all time.”

Wynn told Deadline that Basquiat’s estate “granted us such incredible access to their trove of materials and we are excited to collaborate with Quinn who has a dazzling vision for an intimate and emotional portrait of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s life.”

Filming for the movie commences this summer, with Quinn Wilson, Lizzo’s former creative director, serving as director, PEOPLE reports.

A user criticized Kelce’s involvement with the project on Facebook, writing, “He should be made to pronounce Basquiat’s name, spell it or tell what his profession was of which Kelce can do neither. Further proof that making connections has always been his ulterior motive for “dating” TS.”

Meanwhile, last month, Kelce addressed the backlash to a New York Times article that credited him for popularizing the “fade” haircut that Black males have been rocking since before the athlete was born.

In the article titled, “They’ll Take the Travis Kelce — Hairdo, That Is,” reporter Alyson Krueger claims barbers in Canada and the United States “told her that dozens of patrons have come in requesting the same hairstyle as the NFL star,” per the New York Post

“Mr. Kelce’s hairstyle, a buzz cut fade, is easy to replicate,” Krueger wrote.

Kelce, who is dating pop star Taylor Swift, responded to the controversial report during a pre-Super Bowl interview with ESPN on Tuesday.

“Man, I got a good fade, if you need it,” he said in the clip shared on TikTok. “It’s a two on top, a nice high to mid fade with a taper on the back.”

“But I didn’t invent that — I just asked for it,” Kelce added.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” he said of The New York Times article.  “And to do it on Feb. 1 and throw me to the wolves like that,” Kelce contained, referring to Black History Month. “That was just messed up, man. I don’t want anything to do with that one.”
