*Taylor Swift has reportedly surpassed Rihanna to become the world’s richest female musician.
According to Forbes, 34-year-old Swift has an estimated net worth of $1.6 billion, making her the first female musician to reach billionaire status mainly through her song and performance earnings. The publication highlighted that her wealth comprises nearly $600 million from royalties and touring, a music catalog valued at approximately $600 million, and $125 million in real estate.
Bloomberg reported in 2023 that Swift reached billionaire status following the Eras Tour. The pop star ranks 2,118 on Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires, while Rihanna, 36, follows with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion.
“I think that this tour has really become my entire life,” Swift told fans during her Liverpool tour stop, Us Weekly reports. “It’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore. All I do when I’m not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mashups and think about what you might want to hear.”
We reported earlier that much of Rihanna’s wealth comes from her Fenty Beauty brand and her 30 percent stake in her Savage x Fenty lingerie line, which accumulated $550 million in revenue in 2020, according to Forbes. She is also the first billionaire in her native Barbados.
ABC News writes, “Fenty Beauty, generated a reported $72 million in sales in just its first full month in 2017 and nearly $562 million in sales by the end of 2018.”
“I never thought I’d make this much money, so a number is not going to stop me from working,” Rihanna told New York Times’ T Magazine in a 2019 interview.
“The money means that I can take care of my family,” she continued. “The money means that I can facilitate the businesses that I want to. I can create jobs for other people.”
After Forbes declared RiRi a billionaire, she told T Magazine: “My money is not for me; it’s always the thought that I can help someone else. The world can really make you believe that the wrong things are a priority, and it makes you really miss the core of life, what it means to be alive.”
