Stephen A Smith nonsense: Blacks Identify with Donald Trump

*Wait. Stephen A. Smith said what?! During his Thursday appearance on Fox News alongside Sean Hannity, Smith stirred controversy as he came to Donald Trump‘s defense following the ex-president’s assertion that Black Americans empathize with him because of his legal troubles.

Trump’s remarks, made at a Black Conservative Federation gala in February, boasted about his multiple indictments, claiming that Black people support him because they understand discrimination.

“And then I got indicted a second time and then a third time and a fourth time!” Trump exclaimed to the audience.

Two months later, Smith doubled down on defending Trump’s words, expressing indignation over the ongoing criminal trials against him. On Hannity’s show, Smith braved potential backlash.

“Dare I say something that might–will probably be termed the most uncomfortable thing that I’ve ever had to articulate out of my mouth from a political perspective.”

The ESPN broadcaster/commentator went on to assert that Trump’s statement, however unpopular, held truth, drawing parallels between Trump’s legal battles and the historical struggles of Black Americans against systemic injustices.

Smith’s stance sharply contrasted with fellow commentator Charles Barkley, who had threatened violence against anyone wearing a “Black person walking around with a Trump mug shot” shirt. Despite his earlier support for Joe Biden, Smith’s recent defense of Trump hinted at a shift in his political alignment.

Earlier in the week on his own show (“The Stephen A. Smith Show“), Smith had criticized the ongoing prosecution against Trump in New York, dismissing the hush money trial as a “disaster” and “much ado about nothing.”

His vocal outrage over Trump’s legal troubles reached a peak on Fox News, where he admitted to articulating the “most uncomfortable thing” he’d ever said, further distancing himself from his previous political affiliations.

Smith’s unexpected defense of Trump showcased his willingness to confront uncomfortable truths, even at the risk of alienating his audience. Whether this signifies a lasting change in his political views remains to be seen, but it certainly raised eyebrows in the political arena.

Stephen A. Smith is entitled to his opinion, but we’re calling BS on him for this. Scroll down and let us know what YOU think about his comment.
