With shots fired at fellow comedy icons Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Michael Blackson, and Kevin Hart during a recent interview, it’s safe to say that Williams is taking up residence in conversations among his fans and those who enjoy the targets-in-question.
Media sources report Williams let the comments flow about the entertainers during a recent interview on Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
Since then, the former NFL star has found himself in the conversation about his famous guest. Responding to the ruckus, Sharpe detailed how Williams’s appearance came as a pleasant surprise, despite being unsure he would agree to appear on “Club Shay Shay.”
Chatting with Gilbert Arenas (scroll down to watch), Sharpe revealed on their “Nightcap” podcast that he reached out to Williams last year to come on the show. The “Friday After Next” star had no shortage of words as he dominated Sharpe’s interview from when the record button was hit, going 30 minutes straight without Sharpe asking a question.
For those wondering if Sharpe was tempted to interrupt Williams during the interview, Sharpe confessed to feeling torn about whether to do so or let him keep talking. Nevertheless, he ended up letting Williams say whatever was on his mind. In Sharpe’s eyes, a free-speaking Williams would make for a great interview.
In addition to Harvey, Blackson, Hart, and Cedric, Williams addressed controversies surrounding him while clarifying misconceptions, VladTV reported.
As his chat with Arenas continued, Sharpe mentioned his interview style. When it comes to interviewing guests, the sports analyst emphasized the occasion being their chance to speak their truth and set the record straight. To prep for his chats, Sharpe added that he does his due diligence to thoroughly research interviewees so that he can ask the right questions.
The importance of giving his guests a platform to share their stories authentically, without trying to be confrontational or push them in a particular direction was another thing Sharpe highlighted, adding that even he is surprised how an interview turns out, with the possibility of it not receiving the expected views of fame.
Speaking to Williams, Sharpe called it a significant moment and voiced his satisfaction in the conversation, despite some criticism and doubts about it. Overall, he stated the viral chat had the potential to “break the internet, as it allowed him to display his talent and expertise as an interviewer.
