*Rico Wade, a vital figure in Atlanta’s music scene as a member of Organized Noize and an early collaborator with Outkast, has passed away at the age of 52, as confirmed by Killer Mike‘s Instagram post and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

In a statement sent to EURweb, the family of Wade expressed their profound sorrow at the sudden loss of their son, father, husband, and brother. They requested privacy as they grieve the departure of a gifted individual who had a significant impact on many lives.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of our son, father, husband, and brother Rico Wade. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a talented individual who touched the lives of so many. Organized Noize, comprised of Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown alongside Wade, emerged in the early 1990s, contributing significantly to the rise of artists like Outkast, TLC, and Goodie Mob. Their distinctive blend of classic R&B and hip-hop helped shape Atlanta’s music landscape, setting the stage for the city’s prominence in the hip-hop world for years to come.

Rico Wade’s studio, known as “the Dungeon,” located in Atlanta’s East Point neighborhood, served as both a creative hub and a backdrop for numerous hits of the era. His influence extended beyond music, as he was instrumental in fostering a sense of community within the Dungeon Family, which included notable artists like Killer Mike and Big Rube and his cousin, rap superstar Future.

Speaking of Killer Mike, in a heartfelt tribute, expressed his deep sense of loss and gratitude for Wade’s mentorship and friendship. The legacy of Rico Wade lives on through the music he helped create and the lives he touched.

“I don’t have the words to express my deep and profound sense of loss,” Killer Mike wrote. “I am praying for your wife and children. I am praying for the Wade family. I am praying for us all. I deeply appreciate your acceptance into the Dungeon Family, mentorship, friendship, and brotherhood. Idk where I would be without y’all.”
