*Oprah Winfrey blasted reports that Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign paid her $1 million to support her failed bid for the White House.

“I was paid nothing — ever,” Winfrey told a TMZ reporter as she walked to her car (watch the moment via the X/Twitter clip below).

She also refused to discuss the 2024 election before shutting down the Washington Examiner’s report that Harris paid Winfrey’s Harpo Productions $1 million on October 15. The payment came after the media mogul hosted a town hall event for the vice president in September.  Oprah also appeared at Harris’ final rally before Election Day where she called on people to vote “for healing over hate.”

Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that Harpo Productions denied that Winfrey was “paid a personal fee.”

“The campaign paid for the production costs of ‘Unite for America,’ a livestreaming event that took place Sept. 19 outside Detroit, Mich.,” a Harpo spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “Oprah Winfrey was at no point during the campaign paid a personal fee, nor did she receive a fee from Harpo.”

We reported earlier that following Harris’ loss in the 2024 presidential race to Donald Trump, there are claims of mismanagement within her campaign, despite raising over $1 billion. By mid-October, the campaign had spent more than $900 million, according to the Federal Election Commission, Newsweek reports.

Critics within the Democratic Party, including Lindy Li from the DNC finance committee, have called the campaign a “disaster” and suggested it ended with around $20 million in debt, though this figure has not been independently confirmed.

Reports indicate that a significant portion of the funds was spent on advertisements and celebrity appearances at rallies.

Harris allegedly paid Beyonce $10 million for her appearance at a Houston rally (and she didn’t even perform), Megan Thee Stallion was reportedly paid $5 million to twerk for Black voters, Lizzo bagged $2.3 million from the Haris campaign and Eminem received $1.8 million. Per The Post, Kamala’s campaign also dropped serious cash on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

“A source familiar with the matter told the Washington Examiner that the Harris campaign spent six figures on building a set for Harris’s appearance on the popular Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper,” the Examiner wrote. “The interview came out in October and was reportedly filmed in a hotel room in Washington, D.C.”

Up to $20 million was also spent on swing-state concerts on the eve of the election by the campaign.

Donations to Harris’ presidential campaign are now being partially redirected towards a vote recount effort, according to reports.
