*Dr. Cheyenne Bryant recently called out Ne-Yo for his polyamorous claims, accusing the singer of being a womanizer.
On her Truth Talks podcast, Bryant criticized Ne-Yo for repeatedly cheating on his ex-wife, Crystal Renee, which led to their divorce. She argued that the artist uses his polyamorous lifestyle to cover up his past infidelity. Ne-Yo, who has been openly dating multiple women recently, previously explained that he no longer believes in monogamy.
“He cheated on his wife and that’s why she left him,” Bryant said on the Nov. 26 episode of the podcast, MadameNoire reports.
“He didn’t cheat once, he cheated over and over again. He’s a womanizer. And now what he’s doing is as a womanizer, he’s gaslighting himself and that wife to make it seem like he wants polyamorous when you never wanted polyamorous from the beginning,” she continued.
“You wanted to be married but didn’t have the discipline to do it and your wife left you because she didn’t tolerate that sh-t,” Bryant added.
Earlier this year, Ne-Yo expressed his views on having multiple partners, advocating that individuals should be free to marry more than one person. When TMZ caught up with him while walking along the street holding hands with two partners, Ne-Yo clarified that he’s all about polygamy, which is when you simultaneously have more than one long-term partner. However, Bigamy, marrying multiple people simultaneously, is illegal.
“I feel like in the realm of love and romance you should let people do whatever the hell they wanna do, can’t see how it’s hurting anybody,” Ne-Yo told the outlet.
“To be honest I don’t need the government to tell me what it is I can and can’t do, coming into my personal life,” he explained. “I’m not going to let it ruin my day. The people I love know I love them.”
Dr. Bryant accused Ne-Yo of using polyamory as an excuse to make other women suffer for his commitment issues.
“That’s B.S.,” she said. “You want to be married. You don’t have the discipline, you don’t have the tools to do it. So now you want to make sure you put out into the world, look at me I want to be polyamorous because I cheated. No you failed in your marriage, you F’d up and that’s the problem. Now you need to heal from that and not self project your pain onto these women about your messed up decision making.”
Ne-Yo was previously married to Monyetta Shaw, with whom he has two children. After his divorce from Renee, he has openly dated multiple women simultaneously. Ne-Yo has seven kids with multiple women.
“Monogamy’s for you it’s not for me,” Ne-Yo said in his Nov. 14 appearance on Lemon Drop.
“I spent a lot of time lying trying to be somebody that I was not. And now that I realize who I am, it’s like all of my relationships have improved. From friendships on down to my ex-wife,” he continued. “We’re actually at a place we can call each other friend again because now it’s, ‘This is me. This is who I am.’ Love it or leave it alone.”
