NC Lt. Gov. Robinson Chides, Evades Reporters, Defends Controversial ‘Some Folks Need Killing’ Remarks as ‘Taken Out of Context’ | WATCH

*Earlier this week on Wednesday, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson eluded a barrage of reporters while condemning their line of questioning as “pure shameful.” Instead of clarifying or responding to their inquiries, Robinson was hastily escorted into an elevator by his security detail.

Robinson’s appearance at the legislature was initially for a ceremony honoring a Craven County police officer. Following the ceremony, reporters seized the opportunity to question him on recent inflammatory comments he made, only to be met with deflection and reprimand.

“You want to come out here and besmirch that lady’s award by coming out here and asking me that silly question?” Robinson retorted. “That’s what you got out of this? There’s your answer. Shameful, that’s what it is. Pure shameful. And you should be ashamed.”

The comments drawing scrutiny were made during a speech at Lake Church in White Lake, NC where the Republican gubernatorial nominee declared:“Some folks need killing!” He stressed during the emotionally charged address that this wasn’t about vengeance but necessity. The remarks have since ignited widespread criticism and concern.

Amid the growing controversy, Robinson provided some context during an interview on the Pete Kaliner Show on WBT Radio in Charlotte, the Carolina Journal reports. He blamed the media and liberal factions for dishonesty and distorting his message. According to Robinson, his speech was a tribute to the historical sacrifices made to preserve American freedoms, citing the context of looming Independence Day celebrations.

“We didn’t argue and capitulate and talk about, well, maybe we shouldn’t fight the Nazis,” he elaborated. “That’s hard. No, they’re bad. Kill them. Some liberal somewhere is gonna say that sounds awful. Too bad. Get mad at me if you want to. Some folks need killing. It’s time for somebody to say it. It’s not a matter of vengeance. It’s not a matter of being mean or spiteful. It’s a matter of necessity.”

Despite Robinson’s insistence that his comments were taken out of context, he avoided engaging with reporters who sought further explanation. His reluctance has only fueled further skepticism about his clarifications.

This isn’t the first time Robinson has courted controversy. Known for his adoption of the “MAGA Republican” identity, Robinson has previously made headlines for his incendiary declarations, including advocating for the arrest of trans women, linking homosexuality to pedophilia, espousing the discredited “birther” conspiracy about Barack Obama, and promoting antisemitic theories.

The Democratic response has been swift and unequivocal. Anderson Clayton, chairwoman of the North Carolina Democratic Party, was vocal in her condemnation during a recent virtual news conference. “Mark Robinson makes North Carolina less safe…it’s jarring and irresponsible for the sitting lieutenant governor and the Republican nominee for governor to say something so reckless and so clearly intended to incite violence,” Clayton remarked.

As the political climate heats up in North Carolina, voters and observers alike are keenly watching how Robinson’s statements and actions will impact his gubernatorial campaign and the broader political discourse in the state.
