*Vanessa Bryant revealed the Kobe Bryant emblem she designed for the 2028 LA Olympics.
As Sandrarose.com reports, the LA28 logo features Kobe’s Nike logo embedded within a purple and gold snakeskin “A.” Vanessa was selected to create the official emblem for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
In an Instagram video announcing the logo, Vanessa said: “Kobe wanted the games to come to LA because of his passion for the city, all the love Angelenos have shown for our family and all our fond memories here.”
She added, “I’m proud that Kobe gets to help tell a piece of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic story. We designed this emblem in his honor. We hope this inspires the mamba mentality in every aspiring Olympian and Paralympian.”
In the video, the late NBA icon shares his vision for bringing the Olympic Games to Los Angeles.
“There’s so many icons that come from the city of Los Angeles, that live in the city of Los Angeles,” Kobe says in the video. “There’s so many different fields that it makes complete sense to host the Olympics here. There’s so many things that you can do to even elevate it to higher level, to tell the beautiful of journey and story of these athletes that are represented in these Olympic games.”
Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Lakersunveiled a statue of Kobe wearing the No. 8 uniform at Crypto.com Arena.
Five NBA championship trophies surround the base of the statue. It is engraved with “Kobe Bean Bryant” and his nickname, “Black Mamba.” A QR code is also included on the statue. The code directs smartphone users to a short film about Kobe’s career narrated by Denzel Washington, including the memorable 81-point game.
Bryant’s widow said at the time there would be two other statues, one with him wearing No. 24 and with daughter Gianna, who was killed with the Lakers star in a helicopter crash in 2020. The other two statues were not displayed at the ceremony, ABC 7 reported
“Because fans all over the world and the City of Angels loved Kobe so much, he will have three statues in front of the arena – also known as the house that Kobe built,” Vanessa said during the tribute.
“For the record, Kobe picked the pose you’re about to see,” she added. “So if anyone has any issues with it, tough (expletive). It is what it is.”
According to Vanessa, Kobe chose the pose years before he died. It “represents a moment from his stunning 81-point game against the Toronto Raptors in 2006, the second-highest point total in a single game in NBA history,” ABC 7 writes.
