*Kehlani addressed the cult accusations made by her ex, Javaughn Young-White, as he seeks full custody of their child.
We reported earlier that Young-White has filed for full custody of their five-year-old daughter, Adeya. He claims Kehlani has been involved in a “sex cult” for several years which poses a risk to their child.
According to court documents, Young-White detailed how the cult controls Kehlani’s actions and her behavior “including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.”
“For example, the cult leader, who goes by the name of Neto, convinced [Kehlani] that he had a vision that I was a danger to our daughter and would kill her, and therefore banned [Kehlani] from allowing me to see Adeya,” the filing reads, per The Independent.
“Based on this ‘vision’ by her cult leader, [Kehlani] prevented me from seeing our daughter for months.”
In response to his allegations, Kehlani said in a statement, “What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue. I wanted to take time to ensure that I responded to these accusations from a calm and considered space rather than a reactive one. I strongly deny any claims I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe.”
Kehlani wrote that she does “not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media.”
The singer added, “This is a legal, private, familial matter that will be handled accordingly, and I will now be taking space for my own personal well-being, and most importantly, for the well-being of my child.”
Young-White has raised concerns that the leader of the “cult” conducts unsupervised “religious ceremonies” with Adeya in a private room. He also alleges that Adeya sleeps in the same bed as and is bathed by “cult members.”
“When I discovered this on her birthday in 2023, I was physically restrained and threatened by members of the ‘cult’ when I attempted to retrieve our daughter,” he claimed.
Young-White is seeking full custody and child support, Page Six reports.
