*MSNBC host Joy Reid is catching heat for her seemingly disparaging remarks about White Christians while covering the results of the Iowa caucuses.

During the on-air segment, Reid ranted about Iowa being “overrepresented by white Christians.” She also recalled her conversation with Robby Jones of the polling company Public Religion Research Institute.

“He said the following to me: Iowa is about 61% white Christian. The country as a whole is approximately 41% white Christian. And in Iowa, we’re talking about Evangelical white Christians,” Reid stated.

According to Reid, Jones said white Evangelical Christians “see themselves as the rightful inheritors of this country, and Trump has promised to give it back to them.”

Trump won the Iowa caucuses with 51% of the overall vote and 53% of the white Evangelical vote.

“All the things that we think about, about electability, about what are people gaming out, but none of that matters when you believe that God has given you this country, that it is yours, and that everyone who is not a White, conservative Christian is a fraudulent American, is a less real American. Then you don’t care about electability. You care about what God has given you,” said Reid during the broadcast.

Later in the show, she stated, “This is now what white evangelicalism is. It is Christian nationalism.”

Reid also declared, “What they’re saying is, ‘We own this country, and everyone will bow down to us.’”

Her comments prompted a Catholic advocacy group to call on MSNBC to apologize for her remarks.

Per The Christian Post, Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, wrote a letter to MSNBC President Rashida Jones and Comcast President Michael Cavanagh Wednesday.

“Why have there been no repercussions regarding the anti-Christian remarks made by MSNBC guests and hosts?” Donohue asked. “Bigotry against any demographic group should never be given air time on television.”

Reid’s comments sparked a debate on social media, with many users on X/Twitter and Facebook calling for the network to fire her.
