*A quiet Hollywood Hills neighborhood became the scene of a major police response Saturday night (08-01-26) after Los Angeles police answered a reported burglary call at a home owned by actress Nia Long.
According to reports, officers were dispatched to the Outpost Drive residence around 9:40 p.m. after receiving information about a possible break-in. When they arrived, police encountered a man accompanied by his dog near the front entrance of the property, prompting officers to secure the area while determining whether the suspect posed an immediate threat.
Within minutes, multiple patrol vehicles lined the normally quiet street as neighbors watched the unfolding incident from nearby homes. Video captured by witnesses quickly spread across social media, showing officers surrounding the residence and issuing repeated commands as the situation developed, KTLA reported.
The dramatic footage quickly transformed what began as a neighborhood police call into one of the weekend’s most talked-about celebrity news stories.

Suspect Taken Into Custody Without Injury
Video from the scene showed officers, with weapons drawn, directing the man to slowly walk down a staircase before ordering him to lie face down on the driveway.
After several tense moments, the suspect complied without resistance, allowing officers to move in and place him in handcuffs. Responding officers also calmly secured the man’s dog, leading the animal away on a leash after the arrest.
Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or explained why he was at the residence. Investigators also have not disclosed whether the man ever entered the home or remained outside before officers arrived.
As of publication, police had not announced what criminal charges, if any, the suspect may face.
Detectives remained at the property following the arrest to document the scene and determine exactly how the incident unfolded. Authorities have not said whether surveillance cameras captured the suspect’s movements, whether any property was damaged or stolen, or whether anyone inside the home had direct contact with the man before police arrived.
Those unanswered questions are expected to be addressed as investigators continue reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Nia Long’s Son Was Reportedly Home
Although the residence belongs to Long, reports indicate the actress does not currently live there.
Instead, the home is occupied by her eldest son, Massai Dorsey II, who was reportedly inside when officers responded Saturday night.
Following the arrest, Dorsey II was seen outside speaking with investigators and making phone calls while officers processed the scene.
Neither Long nor her representatives had publicly commented on the incident at the time of publication.
While the encounter ended peacefully, it underscores the anxiety such incidents can create for family members living at high-profile properties, even when the celebrity homeowner is not present.
Celebrity Security Remains a Growing Concern
Saturday night’s incident comes amid continuing concerns over crimes targeting luxury homes throughout Los Angeles, where celebrities and other high-profile residents have increasingly invested in private security systems, surveillance technology and additional protective measures.

Fortunately, the confrontation ended without injuries to Long’s family, responding officers, the suspect or his dog.
