*Joe Rogan said he’s currently having discussions with Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign about appearing on his popular podcast but he’s not willing to accept the conditions they proposed.
“Also, for the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast. They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin,” Rogan said in a post on X, (formerly Twitter). “My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being. I really hope we can make it happen,” he said.
The statement comes amid controversy with YouTube seemingly suppressing Rogan’s interview with former President Donald Trump. Rogan tweeted Tuesday that the episode faced “an issue with searching” on YouTube, so he posted the entire clip on X.
David Heinemeier Hansson, the CTO of software firm 37signals, was one of many X users who said they had issues searching for Rogan’s Trump interview on YouTube. Rogan reposted a video from Hansson showing his search on the platform and saying it “would be beyond bonkers if they’re actively trying to suppress it. Must be a glitch, right?”
A spokesperson for Google, YouTube’s parent company, informed Variety that Rogan’s video was “not prominently featured” in “certain searches on Monday” and that the problem has since been “resolved,” although they did not clarify the cause of the issue.
Rogan’s Trump episode received 37 million on YouTube. During the interview, they spoke about the possibility of Harris being on the podcast.
“She was supposed to do it and she might still do it. I hope she does,” Rogan said.
Trump responded: “I hope she does because it would be a mess. She’d be laying on the floor comatose. She’d be saying: ‘Call in the medics.’”
“I will talk to her like a human being. I would try to have a conversation with her,” Rogan said.
“I think we’d have a fine conversation. I think I’d be able to talk to her. I wouldn’t try to interview her. I’d just try to have a conversation with her and hopefully get to know her as a human being. That was my goal. Having her on, trying to get her to express herself,” Rogan added.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Harris’ campaign previously said she would not appear on Rogan’s program due to scheduling.
“We talked with Rogan and his team about the podcast. Unfortunately, it isn’t going to work out right now because of the scheduling of this … period of the campaign,” spokesperson Ian Sams said on MSNBC.
