*Jennifer Lopez wanted Bruno Mars to perform at her wedding to Alex Rodriguez, but her wish wasn’t granted due to his high performance fee. The ex-couple engaged in 2019, but two years later in April 2021 they parted ways.
In a recent interview, wedding planner Marcy Blum revealed that Bruno Mars charged $5 million for a wedding performance, which would last about an hour. This hefty price came as a surprise to Lopez. According to Soap Central, Blum said: “We were working with J.Lo and A-Rod before they broke up and we were going through a list of musicians and she goes, ‘What about Bruno Mars?’ I said, ‘We just worked with him and he’s five.’”
Bruno Mars reportedly charges $5 million to perform at weddings. Many fans noted online that he quoted Lopez this fee due to his financial struggles at the time. One X user wrote: “he was just tryna get out of debt leave him alone.”
“He wanted 5mil for 45mins-1hr. Even if you have the money that’s ridiculous. Not hiring him, even if they had gotten married, is smart money management,” another netizen claimed.
“I am with Bruno on this one !! You’re not just paying for a performance; you’re paying for the experience !! Not to mention, JLo collects ceremonies like Grammys !!” an X user reacted.

We reported earlier via NewsNation’s “The Scoop” newsletter that Mars allegedly owes MGM in Las Vegas millions due to his gambling addiction. One insider disclosed, “He’s in hock to MGM for millions.” According to the grapevine, his debts have ballooned to a staggering $50 million.
“He’s essentially beholden to them,” the Vegas source added.
The NewsNation report noted that Mars’ debt was being covered by earnings from his residency earlier this year at Park MGM in Vegas.
“He makes $90 million a year off of the deal he did with the casino, but then he has to pay back his debt… after taxes (Mars makes $1.5 million per night),” the Vegas insider stated earlier this year.
Meanwhile, an MGM rep previously said Bruno Mars “has no debt with MGM,” and noted that its relationship with the artist is one of “mutual respect,” The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
