Don Lemon Announces New Show on X/Twitter: ‘I’m Back Bigger, Bolder, Freer!’ | VIDEO

*If you’ve been wondering what ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon has been up to since his firing from the outlet, we’ve got the answer. Today he announced a deal with X/Twitter.

“I’ve heard you… and today I am back bigger, bolder, freer!,” said Lemon. “My new media company’s first project is The Don Lemon Show. It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, streaming on the platforms where the conversations are happening. And you’ll find it first on X, the biggest space for free speech in the world. I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without the hall monitors. This is just the beginning so stay tuned.”

It was back in April of last year that Lemon was shown the door (via a telephone call) after 17 years at the network. One of the reasons he was let go, it’s speculated, was  because in February he said that called Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley past “her prime.”

As far as landing at another news network, either none of them want him or he isn’t interested in them. That’s where X, formerly Twitter, comes in. Elon Musk, who bought the site in 2022 has been a proponent of free speech on the website, as long as it benefits him, we might add. It seems Lemon is going to somewhat follow the trail/path laid down at X by another high-profile anchor who was given the boot by Fox. Yes, we’re referring to Tucker Carlson, who was fired the same day as Lemon. He went and launched a show on the social media platform titled “Tucker on X” in June of last year. The point is, given that Lemon is known for speaking his mind and saying things that the major news outlets find a little too dicey, Elon Musk’s X looks like the right place for him. Musk also welcomed Lemon to the platform on Tuesday with several posts.

Lemon’s half-hour show will appear three times a week and of course, will cover politics along with sports and entertainment.

Speaking about his CNN firing, Lemon noted that as a journalist he has a responsibility to tell the truth.

“I don’t believe in platforming liars and bigots, insurrectionists and election deniers, and putting them on the same footing as people who are telling the truth, people who are fighting for what’s right, people who are abiding by the Constitution.”
