They celebrated their graduation from the Disney Dreamers Academy amidst a cascade of sparkling confetti and cherished Disney melodies, framing an exhilarating crescendo to their week-long voyage of courage, creativity, and boundless fun.
Like stars descending from the sky, a constellation of luminaries from the realms of fame, academia, business, and community stewardship lent their brilliance to the five-day odyssey of mentorship. Amongst the galaxy of guiding lights were Daymond John of ‘Shark Tank,’ Dara Reneé from ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,’ Lance Gross of ‘House of Payne,’ and Sanya Richards-Ross of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’, each igniting the ambitions of these youthful visionaries.
The evening preceding this grand finale was kissed by destiny for Kyla Marie Griffith, an aspirant DJ from Laurelton, NY. DJ Big Tigger, a maestro of rhythm, orchestrated a private symposium for her, an encounter etched in the stars. He bestowed upon her the honor of playing co-DJ, spinning tunes together at the event’s ultimate celebration.
This convocation was not merely a finale but a vibrant tapestry woven from heartfelt advice, skillful careers-honing, and the magic only Disney can provide, culminating in a ring ceremony that beckoned tears of joy and an embrace of futures bright. The air vibrated with the energy of dreams coming alive, as Mickey and friends danced, and tunes filled every heart with hope.
Handpicked like gems from across the land, the attendees, predominantly young Black dreamers, and voices from communities less heard, were bestowed this wondrous escapade devoid of cost. They indulged in educational banquets and workshops ripe with leadership finesse, communication wisdom, and a treasure map to navigate the seas of success.
These Disney Dreamers, instructed through workshops brimming with potential, were introduced to the vast landscapes of careers—be it in the hum of commerce, the spotlight of entertainment, or the pursuit of scientific ventures, including those within the illustrious realms of Disney itself.
Anchored in the fabric of Walt Disney World’s mission, the Disney Dreamers Academy is a testament to belief in diverse brilliance that propels the youth to soar towards grand horizons. Over its seventeen-year voyage, it has cast its spell on more than 1,600 dreamers from across the country.
