*Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, co-founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF), has been moved to a halfway house in Florida after serving years in federal prison.

Complex reports that he was transferred from the “Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Coleman Low to community confinement, which is overseen by the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Miami Residential Reentry Management (RRM) Office,” the outlet writes. This means Big Meech will be placed in either home confinement or a Residential Reentry Center (AKA a halfway house). Flenory was sentenced to 30 years in 2008 after his 2005 arrest for his role in drug trafficking and money laundering. His sentence was reduced by nearly three years earlier this year, leading to his transfer on Oct. 15. He is expected to be released on Jan. 27, 2026.

“Two decades is an incredibly long time, and it’s been inspiring to witness the power of hope and resilience,” Flenory’s attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, told Complex in a statement.

“He used his time in prison to focus on personal growth and transformation, and now he has the opportunity to begin a new chapter,” Barnett said.

“He’s out, but millions more remain trapped inside – there’s still so much work to be done,” Barnett continued. “We need to push for real change, for a justice system that recognizes the dignity and potential for redemption in every individual. Our commitment to challenging the injustices that still exist within the criminal legal system remains unwavering. There is nothing more urgent than freedom.”

Big Meech and his brother Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory founded BMF in 1985 as a creative agency and Hip-Hop label. They are said to have generated over $270 million from cocaine sales throughout the United States.

Rapper Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson is responsible for bringing the brothers’ story to the small screen with the “BMF” series on STARZ. Big Meech is played by his son Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. As we reported earlier,  Jackson made sure Flenory Jr. put in the necessary work needed for the part.

“He [50 Cent] called me the next morning after the audition and told me, ‘yo I want to send you to LA, I want you to move to LA and take these acting classes,” said Flenory Jr. in an exclusive interview with EURweb’s L.Marie. “I had to learn how to act before I could go for the role of playing my dad.”

He studied acting for a year and a half and it paid off. He embodies the swag of a Midwestern gangster from the late ’80s.
