*This weekend, Mamoudou Athie and Leah Lewis will be in Elemental City!
Disney and Pixar’s new original feature film, “Elemental” introduces Fire-, Water-, Earth- and Air- all living together.
Ember (voiced by Lewis; fire), a quick-witted fiery young woman, and Wade (voiced by Athie; water), a sappy, go-with-the-flow guy, form a forbidden friendship.
We talked to Athie and Lewis about cheese and crackers, flying, and “SpongeBob.”
Q: What’s one thing your parents forbid you to do but you did it anyways?
MA: Watch the “Simpsons.” I watched the “Simpsons” anyway.
LL: Mine was the “Simpsons” and “SpongeBob” because he yelled too much. And Lunchables. My parents would not let me have Lunchables. [But] before our wrap party, I ate two Lunchables.
Q: If you could be one of the elements which one would you be?
LL: I would be an earth person and I would grow copious amounts of vegetables on my head. We going to eat today!
MA: …It’s practical. You can change the world.
The selfish answer. is air because it’d be cool to be able to fly.
LL: Take me with you. I’ll make you food and you can fly me around.
