*”Tina- The Tina Turner Musical” has opened in grand style at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. The crowd was filled with sentimental awe of the late Tina Turner and beaming in expectation of seeing her life re-imagined on stage.
Naomi Rodgers (who shares the leading role with Zurin Villanueva) was charged with emitting Tina Turner’s electricity, charm, infectious appeal, and fiery vocals on opening night. Much to the audience’s approval, the lady delivers.
“Tina-The Tina Turner Musical” is based on the book by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins. Boy oh boy does it spill the tea on Ms. Turner’s personal life. The revelation of her storied past involved domestic abuse, family trauma, financial woes, and a career slump. All of which Tina overcame, making her triumphant return even more endearing to her fans worldwide.

“Tina – The Tina Turner Musical” originally opened on Broadway on November 7, 2019, and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production reopened at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on October 8, 2021, following the 18-month industry-wide shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Broadway production ended performances Sunday, August 14.
