*BMF returns to STARZ this week for a second action-packed season!

The series dramatizes the true story of two brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius Flenory, Jr.) and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi), who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late ’80s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the country, Black Mafia Family. Determined to achieve their American Dream, the brothers strategically execute a new vision.

In season two, Meech and Terry’s parents, Charles (Russell Hornsby) and Lucille (Michole Briana White), are still grappling with financial and marital stress. Charles hopes a new business venture he’s started with his younger son Terry will bring in money for the bills and keep Terry away from Meech’s influence and the dope game.

Lucille begins to make different choices as their home life unravels, and the youngest daughter, Nicole, develops a smart mouth. Between navigating her sons’ beef and the feeling that Charles has started looking elsewhere for fulfillment, the hard-working, devout Christian faces unexpected challenges this season.

Hornsby and White explained to EURweb’s Jill Munroe why the financial issues underlie all the other problems developing with Charles and Lucille.

White said, “struggling on that level can bring up many different things that make it hard to focus on the love. It is taking up so much energy to keep our heads above water that we’re just missing each other and unable to support in the same way. And a lot of things get missed because of the financial burden.”

Hornsby added, “The love has been there; the support has been there. But, as Michole stated, when money is lacking, it brings about a lot of problems.”

“I think that’s what was plaguing a lot of the families of that time,” Hornsby continued. “There’s not enough to go around; you need more. And, again, when the money isn’t there, you are too busy agonizing over the money that there is no time for tenderness. There is no time and no energy for intimacy. There is no time to take a breath, look at somebody, and say how are you doing, baby? Are you okay? Do you need anything? Can I help? You know what I need? Is some of my money to pay these bills. All of a sudden, you’re not attractive anymore. All of a sudden, you ain’t funny, no more. All of a sudden, you can’t sang. Why? Because we ain’t got no money.”
