*The family of Shanquella Robinson has fired off a cease-and-desist to the streaming platform Tubi alleging her likeness was used without approval of the estate.

We reported previously that Robinson was allegedly beaten to death by a “friend” in a Mexican villa in October 2022 while celebrating her birthday with a group of purported friends. The group told Robinson’s mother that her daughter’s cause of death was alcohol poisoning. But the victim’s family was reportedly told a different story by Mexican authorities and the FBI.

A disturbing video surfaced allegedly showing Daejhanae Jackson attacking Robinson in a bedroom while she was naked. A man who appears to be filming the assault is heard asking Shanquella, “Quella’ can you at least fight back?” Robinson attempts to get away but she is slammed to the floor and punched in the head repeatedly.

Mexican authorities launched a homicide investigation but in April, the U.S. attorney’s offices in the Western District of North Carolina announced that they “concluded that federal charges cannot be pursued.”

Meanwhile, over on Tubi, Season 2 episode 2 of “Street Legal,” titled “Frenemies,” reads: “Within 24 hours, a group of friends traveling to Cabo, Mexico, for a birthday celebration turns into a crime scene, and everyone has a different story. Are they friends or enemies?”

The cease-and-desist letter states the description “covertly exploited” Shanquella, calling it an infringement upon the family’s legal rights to publicity, Revolt reports.

“We must express our profound dismay at the distressing misrepresentation and unauthorized use of Shanquella’s identity and the events surrounding her tragic passing,” reads the letter sent on behalf of Shanquella’s loved ones from attorney Sue-Ann Robinson, per Revolt.

“This unauthorized use has caused significant emotional distress and harm to the Robinson family, as it has dredged up painful memories and portrayed our loved one in a manner that is inaccurate, disrespectful, and damaging to her reputation,” the letter states.
