*Medical researchers claim there’s an increase in the average length of erect penises in males around the world.

According to a urology professor at Stanford, this has caused some concern within the phallically-focused community — if that’s a thing. A study published online that focused on this very subject in the World Journal of Men’s Health, concluded that “the average erect penis length has increased over the past three decades across the world.”

The researchers analyzed penis-related data from over 55,000 men who were a part of several studies originally published between 1942 and 2021. The group took a deep dive into many categories and ultimately discovered that erect penis length increased by 24 percent over the past 29 years when region, age, and population are factored in.

Stanford urologist Michael Eisenberg, MD says this increase is “concerning”.

“The increase happened over a relatively short period of time,” Eisenberg explained to the medical school’s official Scope blog. “Any overall change in development is concerning because our reproductive system is one of the most important pieces of human biology. If we’re seeing this fast of a change, it means that something powerful is happening to our bodies. We should try to confirm these findings and if confirmed, we must determine the cause of these changes.”

Here’s more about the study:

This analysis was restricted to data collected from original articles that examined men’s penile length. Studies were considered eligible if the quantitative measurement of penis size was measured by an investigator, the sample included ≥10 participants, participants were aged ≥17 years, and if they provided sample size, mean, and standard deviation (SD) of flaccid or erect length measured from the root (pubo-penile junction) of the penis to the tip of the glans (meatus) on the dorsal surface. Articles were excluded if they were based on a self-measurement and if they reported measurements done after major pelvic surgery. Abstracts and meeting reports were excluded from the analysis.

The current study identified an increase in the average erect penile length in men from 1992 to 2021. Importantly, the increase was seen across several geographic regions and subject populations.

Eisenberg noted in the blog that there could be a number of factors at play for the “increasing penis” epidemic, “such as chemical exposure, like pesticides or hygiene products, interacting with our hormonal systems,” he said.

“These endocrine-disrupting chemicals — there are many — exist in our environment and our diet,” the added. “As we change our body’s constitution that also affects our hormonal milieu. Chemical exposure has also been posited as a cause for boys and girls going into puberty earlier, which can affect genital development.”
