*A 60-year-old Texas man has been charged with murder after he fatally shot his 16-year-old stepdaughter on Friday.
Van Brisbon is accused of killing Lauren Juma after she called her mother on Facetime to inform her that he was creeping around her darkened bedroom at ungodly hours. She also FaceTime her older sister who lived nearby.
Lauren’s mother, Laurie Young, was at work at the time of the incident. The teen was home alone with Brisbon, Harris County sheriff’s deputies said.
When her older sister arrived at the home to pick her up, Brisbon reportedly refused to let Juma leave.

According to court records, Lauren asked her mom in the FaceTime call to tell Brisbon to get out of her bedroom, which she did. Lauren then screamed, “Mom, he has a gun,” court records say — and that’s when the call ended.
When deputies arrived at the scene, gunshots were heard from inside the home.
Police reportedly found the victim’s lifeless body with pants her pants down around her ankles. Brisbon also had his pants down when authorities arrived. He reportedly told officers, “Do what you gotta do.”
He has been ordered held on $1 million bond, according to the report.
“She was really beautiful and had a beautiful soul and just wanted to go out and enjoy life all the time,” said Keryca Harmon, Lauren’s 19-year-old sister. “That’s all she ever wanted.”
Lauren’s mom created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
