*Patti LaBelle once confessed that she wanted to “pimp slap” Diana Ross back in the day.
In the clip below, Patti explains the four-decades-long tension between her and Diana started when Patti LaBelle And The Bluebells toured with The Supremes. LaBelle said “that heifer” Diana “copied our style.”
As I Love Old School Music reports, “Patti claimed that Diana would peek into the LaBelle’s dressing room to see their show outfits, and then go buy the same outfits for the Supremes. The Supremes would then perform with those outfits and the LaBelles would have to perform right after with the same outfit that the Supremes wore, making it look like the LaBelles copied their style,” the outlet writes.

Patti and Diana ultimately settled their beef thanks to a little help from Oprah Winfrey.
According to ILOSM, when LaBelle appeared on “Oprah’s Where Are They Now,” she recalled how a celebrity luncheon that Winfrey held at her home forced Patti and Diana to be together and play nice — which apparently lead to long overdue healing between the two ladies.
Patti also discussed her drama with The Supremes during a recent interview with Drink Champs. During the interview, she reiterated her claims that Ross copied her onstage looks.
“People used to come to the Apollo all the time and sell hot clothes like Gucci and all of that stuff, and it was worth thousands – I brought all the clothes – so I had moments with The Supremes at the show,” the legendary singer said.
She continued, “We [LaBelle] would go to Walmart or Walgreens or one of those cheap stores and buy gold outfits. And so the next day, the day we wore them, the next day The Supremes had on the same gold things. They were biting my style. No for real, biting big. I said, ‘Girl, we ain’t got no money. It’s the only outfit we have.’ And so we both have on the same outfits, but it was after they saw ours and somebody want to buy it.”
